The gear belt puts in action a camshaft and the pump of system of cooling. At belt breakage there can be an impact of pistons about the valve and serious damage of the engine. Therefore to make belt replacement it is necessary in the ordered terms or in earlier terms if on a belt oil or a belt has got has non-uniform deterioration.
The prevention

Precisely to establish a tension of a gear belt on models since 1992 it is possible only with use of the special electronic tool. If the belt tension is made roughly, it is necessary to check up a tension with use of the special electronic tool at the first opportunity.


Not to use the car on the big distances or to maintain the engine on high frequencies of rotation while the belt tension is not correct.

Removal driving a camshaft belt is necessary for performance of following operations:

 – Removal and installation of a head of the block of cylinders or a camshaft;
 – Removal and installation of the pump of a cooling liquid;
 – Removal and installation driving chains of the oil pump;
 – Removal and installation of a sealing ring of a cranked shaft;
 – Adjustment of a backlash of valves.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Models 1580 of sm3 and 1905 sm3 with 8 valves till 1992 with the semi-automatic tension device of a belt

1. To remove a wire of weight from the accumulator.
2. To weaken and remove driving a generator belt.
3. To remove the top casing driving a camshaft belt.
4. To remove a lateral casing.
5. By means of a pulley bolt to turn a cranked shaft so that drive elements timing were established in the position, allowing to fix their cores. For fixing of these elements it is necessary to use two special steel cores in diameter of 10 mm and length 70 mm (the adaptation 00163).
6. To insert one core through a camshaft pulley, and the second through a pulley of a cranked shaft (on a thickening the aperture in diameter of 10 mm is located).
7. To take cores.
8. To remove the bottom plate closing картер couplings, and to fix a flywheel (for example, adaptation Facom D 86).
9. To remove a pulley of a cranked shaft.
10. To take adaptation Facom D 86.
11. To remove plastic casings driving a camshaft belt, at first bottom left, and then the top and bottom right.
12. To weaken nuts of the holder of a tension roller and a counternut of management of the clown.
13. By means of a square clip with the party of 6 mm for management of the clown to compress a spring together with the holder of a tension roller.
14. To tighten a counternut. The belt is weakened.
15. To remove a belt, trying not to bend it. If the gear belt is repeatedly used, it is necessary to note a direction of its rotation.

16. For fixing of pulleys of a drive of the mechanism timing it is necessary to use a core in diameter of 10 mm on the one hand and 8 mm with another.
17. To weaken a bolt, securing the a pulley of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt, and to turn a pulley clockwise, using the key of square section corresponding to an aperture in a nave of a pulley. Reliably repeatedly to tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley.

18. To weaken the mechanism of a tension of a forward part of a gear belt and bolts of a back pulley of the mechanism of a tension. To turn a forward pulley in a direction clockwise, using the key of square section corresponding to an aperture in a nave of a pulley, and reliably repeatedly to tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley. Similarly to turn a back pulley in a direction counter-clockwise and reliably repeatedly to tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley.
19. To check up position of pulleys of a camshaft, cores of blocking of a cranked shaft, to remove and examine a gear belt.
20. To weaken a bolt of fixing of the back mechanism of a tension of a pulley of a gear belt, to turn a pulley in a direction clockwise and repeatedly to tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before belt installation on a former place completely to clear pulleys of a drive of a gear belt. To check up smoothness of rotation of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension.
2. Correctly to establish a camshaft, inserting into a corresponding place through a camshaft pulley a special core.
3. To put a belt to a place of its installation, in view of the arrows specifying a direction of its movement. To put on a belt a pulley of a cranked shaft.
4. To clear a head part of a cranked shaft, a pulley and its bolt.
5. To establish on the end of a cranked shaft a pulley without a tightening of elements of fastening.
6. Inserting through a pulley a core, to check up position of a cranked shaft.
7. To place a belt at first on a camshaft pulley, then on a tension roller and, at last, on a pulley of the pump of a cooling liquid.
8. To weaken a counternut of management of the clown and by means of the square holder with the party of 6 mm to move the clown to conclusion position (the tension roller will automatically cause a tension).
9. To be convinced that the cam of the clown is in conclusion position (will turn downwards) and does not pass at the top a disk of the pump of a cooling liquid.
10. To take both cores.
11. To tighten nuts of the holder of a tension roller and a counternut of the clown.
12. By means of a pulley bolt to turn a cranked shaft of the engine on two turns so that to establish the piston of the cylinder 1 in ВМТ (a sign on a flywheel should be opposite to a sign on "0" plastics of adjustment of ignition). Elements timing will be in the position presented on fig. Installation driving of a belt of a camshaft.
13. To weaken and tighten nuts (1) and a counternut.
14. To turn a cranked shaft of the engine before position of fixing by cores of elements of a drive timing. By means of two cores to check up installation timing. If cores are not inserted, it is necessary to repeat all operations.
The prevention

Also installation timing by means of signs (hyphens) on a belt is possible. Position of these signs should correspond to signs on pulleys.


15. To connect a weight wire to the accumulator.

20. To turn some times a cranked shaft and repeatedly to measure a tension of a forward branch of a belt which should make 44 ± 2 units.
21. In the absence of a measuring instrument of a tension of a belt to pull a belt so that it was possible big and index fingers to turn a forward branch of a belt on 90 °. After adjustment of a tension of a belt to tighten all bolts.

The prevention

On a belt there can be adjusting labels in the form of yellow lines to guarantee correctness of installation on both pulleys of a camshaft and a pulley of a cranked shaft. Two adjusting labels with a unique line should join a label on each pulley of a camshaft. The adjusting label with a double line should join a label of a cranked shaft (against a groove segment шпонки).


23. To move forward and back pulleys of the mechanism of a tension to a gear belt before full contact to it, then to tighten bolts.
24. To move a forward pulley of the mechanism of a tension in a direction counter-clockwise to a full choice of a backlash and in this position to tighten bolts. Similarly to establish a back pulley of the mechanism of a tension.
25. In the presence of the measuring equipment to pull a forward branch of a belt to 19 units.
26. To weaken a bolt of fastening of a back pulley of the mechanism of a tension and to turn a pulley clockwise to a tension of a forward branch of the belt equal to 21 units.
27. In the absence of a measuring instrument of a tension of a belt to pull a belt so that it was possible big and index fingers to turn on 45 ° a forward branch of a belt between a pulley of a camshaft and a pulley of the mechanism of a tension. After adjustment of a tension of a belt to tighten all bolts.
28. To turn some times a cranked shaft and repeatedly to measure a tension of a forward branch of a belt between a pulley of a camshaft and a pulley of the mechanism of a tension which should make 45 ± 5 units.
