14.4. A starter

THE GENERAL DATA

Starter (And – Bosch, B – Parish-Rhone, C – Mitsubishi)

1 – a cover of a starter, 2 – a gear wheel of a drive, 3 – the lever, 4 – the electromagnetic switch, 5 – a winding of a rotor,

6 – the case of a starter, 7 – щеткодержатель, 8 – a cover back, 9 – a reducer

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. To disconnect a negative wire from the accumulator. 2. To disconnect electric connections from the electromagnetic switch (arrows specify bolts of fastening of wires to the electromagnetic switch). 3. To remove the back plate of the holder connecting a starter with the block of cylinders of the engine. 4. To unscrew bolts of fastening of a head of a starter to картеру couplings. 5. To take a starter.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. To establish a starter on a corresponding place. 2. To screw up bolts (1) fastenings of a starter to картеру couplings (2 – bolts of fastening of a suspension bracket). 3. To insert a back plate of the holder and to screw up bolts of support of a starter not against the stop. 4. To screw up fastening bolts on the block of cylinders of the engine, and then on a starter. 5. To connect electric connections to the electromagnetic switch. 6. To connect the accumulator.

Starter repair

Actions on dismantling and starter assemblage are not difficult.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. During mechanical repair of a starter it is necessary to carry out following actions. 2. To estimate a condition of brushes, degree of their deterioration, to check up, whether correctly they move to the corresponding directing. 3. To estimate pressing and position of springs of brushes. 4. To estimate a condition of a collector which should be cleaned only a slice of the material moistened in gasoline or трихлороэтиленом, and to polish with a thin emery paper; never it is necessary to use наждачное a cloth. 5. To estimate a condition of plugs of self-greased bearings; in case of their replacement new plugs before installation should be taken in engine oil (SAE 30/40) not less than 20 minutes. 6. To estimate a condition of a rotor and excitation windings; windings should not have ruptures and traces перегорания.
